Join California's newest political party to fix our broken government.

About

Political gridlock is causing our problems to worsen over time.
The California Moderate Party an organization comprising voters who support electing problem solvers to the State Legislature and U.S. Congress. We believe that it’s important to identify political leaders in the legislative branch because presidents and governors need the help of 535 members of Congress and 120 state legislators to get anything done.

Our budget deficits are out of control, our global economic competitiveness is on the decline, and nothing less than the prosperity of future generations will rely on our ability to elect leaders who are willing to confront these challenges. But we need to focus on individual legislative districts to get these leaders elected.

The California Moderate Party is creating a new brand of politics to reward tough decisions and restore trust in government.

Our Mission

Our goal is to create a political base of voters who will give independent-minded lawmakers an incentive to defect from their parties.
We’re building a new political brand in California from the ground-up that people can trust to support leaders who are independent thinkers and possess the courage to stand up to special interests. To be successful, we need people like you to join this effort and show the politicians that we expect more from them than partisan gridlock. We intend to qualify as a political party in California by 2014 using the state’s online voter registration system that will be up and running in mid-2012.

To succeed, we only need 10 percent of the electorate – 2 million voters – by 2020. As our support base grows, we’ll focus our efforts on recruiting defectors from the State Assembly and Senate, as well as the U.S. House of Representatives. Those leaders will help us gain the resources we need to sustain our efforts.

We want to make it easier for independent-minded legislators to make independent decisions—not those that are imposed on them by party bosses.

Our Vision

We need a new culture in government that’s focused on accomplishing the art of the possible instead of getting stuck in old debates about what’s not possible.
Beyond our tangible goals of building a constituency of 2 million voters and serving as a bellwether for the public, we envision a future that catalyzes political innovation with smarter government, better outcomes, and faster progress. While we will prioritize fixing government, creating jobs, and improving education, this movement must lead to a dialogue.

Just like the tough decisions we’ve delayed, we’ve long put off a conversation we need to have about how to bridge the gap between the services we want and the government we’re willing to pay for. Rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse won’t be enough. We need to reexamine our own values, listen to those with whom we disagree, and be honest about the inevitable tradeoffs. We can’t keep expecting to get something for nothing. Let’s reignite our sense of shared purpose and community.

Ultimately, we need to change our political culture. If Californians are good at anything, it’s our ability to think outside the box—to Think Different. We need altruistic leaders who put governing ahead of winning, who put the public interest ahead of their own reelection.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.
