If we want our problems solved, we need to fix them ourselves. We created the current mess in which we find ourselves. We continue to re-elect the same partisan legislators and complain about resulting gridlock. Then we tie their hands behind their backs because we don’t trust them. Today, our failure to be honest about trade-offs threatens the prosperity of future generations.
It’s time to confront the challenges we face. We know that we’ve deferred the hard decisions long enough. We must stop the “us vs. them” rhetoric and look no further than ourselves to understand that real change begins with us — then acknowledge that we’re all in this together.
Californians are ready for a new social contract that’s grounded in reality and embraces the diversity of our beautiful state. As members of an interconnected global community, our societal progress increasingly depends upon our willingness to find common ground.
The current dynamic in American politics and conflict-driven media culture have pit us against each other. Yet, there’s one irrefutable truth you know in your heart: this is a lose-lose approach. No one can win a war of attrition.
Californians are consistently at the forefront — we’re always the first to transcend old paradigms through disruptive innovations. If any people could stop the insanity of using old solutions to solve new problems, it’s us.
Are you ready to accept this responsibility? Because we’re just getting started…
